What is the Auction Deposit?

The auction deposit is a $500 security payment required before participating in any auction. Similar to a hotel pre-authorization, it ensures bidder sincerity and transaction security. The deposit is not a fee — it is automatically refunded to your account after each auction ends.

When is the Deposit Collected?

When you first bid on an auction, the system checks your deposit status:

  • If your deposit is already paid and frozen, you can bid immediately.
  • If no deposit is on file, the system will guide you to pay the deposit before bidding.

When is the Deposit Refunded?

The deposit is automatically refunded in the following cases:

  • Not the winner: If you are not the highest bidder when the auction ends, the deposit is refunded immediately.
  • Winner with payment complete: After successfully paying the final amount, the deposit is refunded.
  • Winner without payment: If the final payment is not completed within the specified timeframe, the deposit may be forfeited as a penalty.

Where is the Deposit Refunded?

The deposit is returned to your MAISON account balance. You can view deposit status and history in "My Account → Deposit". The balance can be used for future auction deposits or withdrawn to your linked bank card.
